About Home Problem Fix

At Home Problem Fix, our mission is simple: make home repair and maintenance easier to understand for everyday homeowners.

Founded by Jason Field, a former general contractor with over 15 years of hands-on experience, this site was built to bridge the gap between “something is broken” and “I need to call an expensive professional”. We provide clear, actionable guidance to ensure that common household issues stay small and manageable.

Jason Field Headshot Creator Home Problem Fix.

Meet Jason Field

I spent over a decade in the field (no pun intended) as a licensed contractor and property maintenance consultant. During that time, I noticed a recurring theme: homeowners were often intimidated by simple repairs, leading them to pay hundreds of dollars for 10-minue fixes – or worse, ignoring a small leak until it became a structural disaster.

I created Home Problem Fix to be the resource I wish my clients had. I’m taking the ‘insider secrets’ form my years on job sites and turning them into beginner-friendly guides. My goal isn’t just to show you how to fix a problem, but to give you the confidence to understand how your home actually works.

Why Home Problem Fix Exists

Home maintenance shouldn’t feel like a second job, and it shouldn’t require a degree in engineering to understand. Jason started this site because the internet is crowded by overly technical manuals and “clickbait” fixes that don’t actually work in a real kitchen or crawlspace.

We remove the jargon and replace it with battle-tested advice. We believe you deserve access to practical information that prioritizes your safety and your wallet. Whether you’re troubleshooting a flickering light or a running toilet, we’re here to help you decide when to pick up a wrench and when it’s truly time to call in a specialist.

What You’ll Find here

  • Decide whether a DIY fix is realistic
  • Know when professional help may be needed

We aim to keep our articles clear, useful, and easy to act on.

Our Approach

Everything we publish is built around three core principles:

Safety First

In my years as a contractor, safety wasn’t jus ta rule – it was a survival essential. We apply that same rigor to our guides. If a task involves electrical hazards, structural risks, or high-pressure water, we make the dangers clear before you ever start.

True empowerment

Your home is likely your biggest investment. We empower you to protect that investment through preventative maintenance. By catching issues early, you aren’t just fixing a problem; you’re saving thousands in future equity.

No-Fluff Guidance

When your basement is flooding, you don’t want a 500-word intro about the history of plumbing. We focus on straightforward, ‘get-to-the-fix’ information so you can solve your problem and get back to your life.
